Tips
Winter House Plant Care
Let your indoor plants dry out slightly between waterings. This prevents fungal problems and root rot.
Tropical plants typically grow very little at this time of the year due to decreased light levels. Fertilization should be decreased until the amount of daylight begins to lengthen.
There are some gorgeous plants that will still bloom with decreased light levels. Tropical Anthuriums, dainty African Violets, and even elegant Peace Lilies can bloom in the winter.
Outdoor Winter Plant Care
We have been fortunate enough to have an abundance of snow which means that many plants will be protected and have enough moisture to start the spring. If you have areas in your yard (especially foundation plantings) that tend to lose snow cover quickly you may need to water.
